Five Schools Receive State Award
The Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) announced earlier this week that five schools from Evergreen Public Schools have been named Washington Achievement Award winners.
The awards, given out by OSPI and the State Board of Education (SBE), celebrate schools for overall excellence and special recognition in language arts, math, science, graduation rate, improvement and closing achievement gaps. The awards announced for Evergreen Public Schools were:
Fisher’s Landing Elementary School – Overall Excellence for Elementary Schools
Hearthwood Elementary School – Special Recognition for Science
Pacific Middle School – Special Recognition for Closing Achievement Gaps
Wy’east Middle School – Special Recognition for Closing Achievement Gaps
Heritage High School – Special Recognition for Improvement
Each year, schools are selected based on their statewide assessment data for the three previous years. That data is analyzed using the Achievement Index. For more about the selection process and the Achievement Index, CLICK HERE.
