Math in Green Construction Homes for Sale
Students in the Math in Green Construction classes at Mountain View and Evergreen High Schools have pounded the last nail into the modular houses they have spent all year constructing and are ready for the final piece, getting them sold. Each 504 square foot home includes a kitchen, one bedroom, one full bathroom, and appliances and is being offered for $25,000 (per home). The new owners are responsible for moving the homes to a site of their choice.
The houses will not only provide a cozy home, but have been an instrumental part of teaching high school students how the concepts in their Integrated II math classes apply in the real world. Students built the homes as they learned, under the supervision and guidance of the construction and math teachers at Mountain View and Evergreen.

One student observed, "This is a good class to learn how to do team work and learn new skills that you don't learn in other classes. The construction makes the math part easier because you actually use what you learn in math…"
