Parent Previews Planned for Human Growth and Development Units

Evergreen Public Schools will again be presenting an AIDS prevention program to all students in grades 5-12. Since AIDS is a life-threatening disease, and is a major public health issue, we feel that students must receive correct information about the spread and prevention of the disease. This AIDS prevention program is intended to provide basic information, and it is our hope this will provide a basis for further discussion at home.

As required by state law, the instructional materials will emphasize the importance of abstinence, and stress the dangers of contracting AIDS, as well as behaviors that place a person at risk. Washington state law requires that parents preview the materials before requesting non-participation for their child. The preview sessions are:
