More than 350 students from across the district attended Evergreen Public Schools' first district-wide post-secondary event held at Mountain View High School (MVHS) . The event drew together more than 50 universities, colleges and organizations eager to share post high school opportunities and options with students researching the next step of their future.
One of the organizers, Amy McKenna, Career Guidance Specialist and Work-Based Learning Coordinator for MVHS shared the thinking behind the event. "We heard a lot from different organizations that it was difficult for them to get around to all of our high schools individually," she said. "By hosting one single district event, we provided a much broader range of resources to our students. The event will rotate each year among the different high schools in the district."
Students were able to speak with representatives from public and private colleges and universities, technical schools, branches of the military and volunteer organizations. Evergreen Public Schools' Board of Director Todd Yuzuriha was also in attendance, speaking with students about his alma mater, Stanford University.
