Shahala Science Bowl Team Wins Again

For the second year in a row, Shahala's Science Bowl team took home 1st place out of 68 teams at BPA's Regional Science Bowl.

After a rocky start in the double elimination tournament, Shahala's Team One won 8 consecutive matches to take 1st place. They were answering science questions (mostly correctly) from 1:30 to just after 6:00 pm without a break.

They will now be heading to Washington, DC on an all-expenses-paid trip to compete in the National Science Bowl this spring.

The regional tournament covers both Washington and Oregon and is the largest and best attended regional competition in the country.

All three Shahala teams went 3-1 in the open round robin matches. Although all the teams performed well, only team 1 had scored enough points to move on to the afternoon's tournament bracket. Teams 2 and 3 also participated in engineering challenges.
