UHS Jazz Ensembles Perform in Eugene
The Union Jazz Ensembles 1 & 2 performed at this years University of Oregon Jazz Festival. Both groups gave fantastic performances and several students were recognized for their outstanding achievement.
Union Jazz Ensemble 1 was selected as the top jazz band at the event and was invited to perform at the gala concert at the conclusion of the festival that featured New York guitarist Jesse Lewis. Local pro jazz musicians Randy Porter, Dave Captein, and Gary Hobbs also performed on the concert.
The UHS students gave a performance at the finale concert that featured Union soloists Sean Taylor (saxophone), Stephen Reid (piano), and Taylor Harris (vocals). The last tune Taylor Harris sang with the band, It Had Better Be Tonight, which was recently recorded by Michael Buble, brought the house down and earned the group an enthusiastic standing ovation.
The following Union students were recognized for their outstanding musicianship and received scholarships for the 2012 UO summer jazz camp.
