Pesticide Notice to Parents

Maintaining a healthy and safe environment for all is very important to Evergreen Public Schools. As part of our commitment to that safety, we endeavor to use best practices in control of pests and weeds. However, it is sometimes necessary to use herbicides and pesticides to assist these strategies. All pesticides and herbicides used by the district are applied by skilled, licensed applicators at a time when no students are present and according to the safety guidelines outlined on the product label and the Washington State Department of Agriculture.

Weed control is typically required along fence lines, buildings and flowerbeds. In addition, broadleaf applications for dandelions and clover in early spring have been important to reduce the risk of attracting bees to our playgrounds.

The most commonly treated pests are ants and bees/wasps.

At times when pesticides or herbicides may need to be applied at your school, a 48-hour notification sign will be posted in the main office. If you are interested in receiving a copy of the 48-hour notification, please fill out the notification form and return it to your principal. If you have any questions, please call Scott Deutsch, Manager of Risk and Safety at 604-4051.
